What are you Afraid of? Some Student Phobias
December 5, 2019
Phobias are a type of anxiety disorder, defined by a persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation. Everyone has at least one phobia in life. People who tend to have a phobia often are overwhelmed by their anxiety. I have heard that people who are unable to avoid their phobia might experience trembling, panic, fear, rapid heartbeat, a strong desire to get away, and shortness of breath.
I went around Wisdom High School asking students about what some of the phobias they might have.
One student explained that she had a phobia of getting robbed, which is called Scelerophobia. Another student said he had a phobia of snakes, which is called Ophidiophobia, while another student is scared of ghosts, which is called Phasmophobia. Others said they were afraid of cockroaches (Katsaridaphobia) and also, students have a phobia of heights, which is called Acrophobia.
