Tiye Boddie – a senior Cross Country runner – has been named the Wisdom Chronicle’s “Athlete of the Month” for October. On Saturday, October 12, Boddie was the first place finisher (individual) that won the District 23-5A HISD Girls Cross Country meet. The Generals as a team finished in 2nd Place.
Boddie was born in Asmera, Eritrea and raised in Kampala, Uganda. What motivates her to do so well in Cross Country and Track, and as a student, is that she is trying her best for her mom. She says that she works hard and is doing this only for herself. What she loves most about cross country is the rush she gets from running.
“My dream is to graduate from Harvard Law School and became a prosecutor,” Boddie said. “I am a very outspoken person.”
Her Cross Country coach here at Wisdom Grace DeWald thinks she has what it takes. “Tiye is one of the most determined students that I have had the pleasure to coach,” said DeWald. “She always shows up to compete, and I am proud about what she has accomplished. I look forward to her future success.”
