Wisdom Community Rallies Around Math Teacher & Wrestling Coach Severely Injured in Car Wreck

Staff Reports

Mario Carrillo – a Math Teacher, Head Wrestling Coach and Assistant Football Coach at Margaret L. Wisdom High School in Houston ISD – was severely injured in a one-car, rollover accident on February 24. The school administration has set up a GoFundMe Page to help raise money for Carrillo and his two sons.

Carrillo survived the serious car accident when his vehicle hit a guard rail head on, but the impact has left him badly injured. He will be hospitalized for at least three weeks as he undergoes surgeries to repair multiple broken bones. Carrillo is the proud single father of two sons, who are being cared for by family friends who could use our support in providing groceries and other essential needs for the boys, during their father’s hospitalization. Also, Coach Carrillo needs support in the way of transportation fees for his sons to go and visit him in the Houston Medical Center for the next three weeks.
“This support is urgently needed immediately and would be greatly appreciated by Mr. Carrillo, his children, and all of us here at Wisdom High School,” said Principal Jonathan Trinh. “The family friends who have selflessly come to his aid during this time of need are counting on our support. So we hope that people can give as little or as much as they can to help, and we thank everyone for their kindness in this difficult time.”
