The Wisdom Generals continued their pursuit of a third consecutive Houston ISD 5A Overall Academic Championship by competing in the HISD Invitational #4 held at Milby High School on Saturday.
Senior Aaron Ni earned the gold medal in Calculator Applications, while senior Mauricio Guerrero brought home the silver, and junior Alyssa Vazquez earned her first bronze medal in the event to help the Generals grab the Calculator Applications team trophy. Defending District Calculator Apps Champion and Senior standout Ethan Song was unable to compete for Wisdom today due to illness.
Ni captured a second gold medal by earning first place in Mathematics, while Guerrero finished fourth in Math and fifth in Computer Science. Wei Jiang Lin Tan placed fourth in Computer Science; Ni was fifth in Number Sense and junior Bai Aimihoue placed sixth in Calculator Applications. The Generals also earned the Team Math trophy.
Wisdom’s two-time, defending HISD 5A champion Journalism team (Twitter: @wisdmjournalism) saw sophomore Sidra Hassan earn a bronze medal in Headline Writing and junior Tiye Boddie finish fourth in News Writing.
The Generals also had several other top-level students compete in Social Studies, Science, Current Issues & Events, and Feature Writing.
