Texas Education Agency Grants Wisdom HS Distinctions in English/ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies

October 3, 2018: Wisdom High School Principal Jonathan Trinh recently announced to the parents of our students at an Open House event, that our high school has earned four distinctions from the Texas Education Agency for 2018. All of the teachers here on campus proudly held a banner that highlighted the distinctions in English/ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies. Of the seven distinctions that the TEA recognizes, there are four that relate to academic achievement, and Wisdom earned all four of those.

“This is something that we have been working hard towards achieving, and to see it come to fruition is very satisfying,” said Trinh. “I am very proud of every single one of our teachers here at Wisdom, who all contributed to this success by focusing on our students every day in their classrooms.”

The distinctions meant that Wisdom – among all at-risk campuses in the State of Texas – finished among the top 25% in teaching those four subject matters. As a high school that has a 60% ESL population, Trinh is exceptionally proud of the distinction in English/ELA.

“Our diversity is our strength here at Wisdom,” said Trinh. “We have so many students that just arrived in this country within the last few years, not knowing how to read or speak much English. But we have incredible teachers – especially in our ELA department – and this just shows how much they have impacted these students’ lives.”
