Have you ever wondered what cheerleaders do when they are not practicing or cheering? We sat down with Wisdom Cheerleading Captain Sarah Davis for a quick Q&A session.

#Q1: Tell me about the Poetry you write. I heard you compete in that competition for our UIL Team.

A: “I mostly write poetry about my life, I’ve had a lot of individual experiences that make up the content I write about, it kind of inspires me. And yes, I do compete in UIL poetry, and I’ve been able to place every time I’ve competed.”

#Q2: You are also in Theater Arts and acting in the school play? What is your part?

A: “Well I do the fix the actor’s makeup. I act in the play as the ocean. My character is the proprietress. The proprietress is a physical embodiment of the ocean who kills everyone. She owns a teashop and that teashop is stuck with the seamstress.”

#Q3: What are your favorite TV or online shows?

A: “I love the Office, but I mean who doesn’t. Also, American Horror story is another favorite.”

#Q4: What are your hobbies when not at school?

A: “Mostly makeup, gore or glam. I also do like playing piano and drawing too.”

#Q5: Tell me about your future goals, do you want to attend college?

A: “Eventually I do. I’m planning to earn my cosmetology license before attending college. I want to do professional gore/glam makeup and make my living off that.”

#Q6: What inspired you to become a cheerleader?

A: “When I was younger, I thought cheerleaders were the coolest and you know how being cool was mostly by the society. So, I went for it and lately I was able to become captain.”

#Q7: How did you become the cheerleading captain?

A: “Well I guess I was really bossy, so instead of being that one bossy teammate my coach made me captain so I can use my bossiness as a skill.”

#Q8: What do you enjoy most about being on the team?

A: “Being a back spot for stunting. If our flyer ever falls, I will catch her, and sometimes she almost breaks my neck, but I feel a sense of accomplishment when I know she’s OK.”

#Q9: Are you all preparing for any cheerleading contests?

A: “Well, contests are too expensive for use to enter, so no, we aren’t. But, we are preparing for spring homecoming.”

#Q10: Are you looking forward to these last few months of school before graduation?

A: “Not really, I’m just want it be over, so I can start a new situation in life. I have major senioritis.”
