This morning, Houston ISD students woke up to a Winter Wonderland – the first time snowfall has hit our city since 2009. Overnight, the temperatures dropped down just enough to give many their wish of a snow day.
“I have never seen snow before in my entire life and I’m so happy to have witnessed this moment of seeing the beautiful snow in our city,” said junior Cristal Cazares, who is from Mexico.
Art teacher Sharon Boeker took a few minutes at the beginning of the school day to build a tiny snowman atop a bench table in the Wisdom Courtyard.
“This has also been my first time seeing snow and I felt a leap of joy seeing it atop the trees, looking just like it does in the movies,” senior Alisson Mejia said.
Houstonians around the city and even our Wisdom students were posting pictures on their social media accounts with friends and family, of the scenery and white covering of snow they witnessed on this bright Friday morning, as last night’s small drizzle of snow covered cars and buildings.
However, due to this surprising weather condition, there was a slight delay for many students arriving on time to school, since many took the chance to enjoy the snow that was blessed upon us.
