Student of the Month for Science: Angela Gesner, 12th Grade

Angela Gesner is from Guam and most recently attended Berkeley International High School in the Philippines. What motivates her to do her best is the ability to learn new things and seeing how it connects to other subjects. Gesner enjoys biology the most because she discovers how nature connects to our culture and wars of life. Her aspirations for the future are to become a nurse or pursue any career in the medical field. She would also like to spend her free time helping others.

Student of the Month for ESL: Eric Tecum, 9th Grade

Eric Tecum is an exciting newcomer who is transitioning from his home country of Guatemala to the United States. He is motivated to learn English and enjoys to read and participate in class. His future goal is to become a teacher and show people that he can be a young professional, regardless of the language barrier.

Student of the Month for Athletics: Ezechiel Mukule, 12th Grade

Ezechiel Mukule is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and he most recently attended Foster High School in the city of Richmond. What pushes him to do his best is the thought of his mother. His favorite subjects include English and History. “I like history because we are always talking about controversial subjects,” Mulcule said. “I would also like to become a professional football player in the future.” Three interesting facts about Ezechiel is that he is fluent in three languages: English, French, and Swahili.

Student of the Month for Social Studies: Jose Omar Andrade Alvarez, 12th Grade

Jose Omar Andrade Alvarez is from Guatemala City and he most recently attended our school when he first came to the U.S. What motivates him to do so well is the whole concept of history because it helps him become a better learner to learn about the changes in our world. “What I like in this class is how history makes us feel more intrigued in a good way to learn about how the history was before.” “I have so many dreams during my lifetime but majority is to just be focused in what is happening right now so I can graduate from high school to only start another chapter in my life to be successful.” One interesting fact about him is how he wants to become successful so he can make a lot of money to help the people from South Africa which is his country.

Student of the Month for English: Pablo Lara Rodriguez, 10th Grade
