Wisdom Debate Team Helps with Harvey Relief Efforts

The WHS Debate Team worked to clean up a home in Portland, Texas.

On October 27, some members of the Wisdom High School Debate team joined the Texas JSA for an overnight service trip to help with relief efforts in Texas. Wisdom Debate Team members Christina Crochet, Nate Gizaw, James Nieves, and Raoul Tchomba at the Junior State of America service project in Portland, Texas. The Hurricane Harvey relief effort was sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse International and by the Carnegie Vanguard JSA chapter.
“These student members of our team have worked hard to bring hope to a family who has been suffering throughout this aftermath,” said Wisdom Debate Coach Nick D’Amico. “I’m very proud of the sacrifice and hard work from our HUDL debate team that traveled to the Texas Gulf Coast to renovate a family’s home. This only proves the discipline and dedication they carry within themselves. “Be the People” is what they say and that’s exactly what we will be to others.”
