The Wisdom High School Boys Cross Country Team finished in 17th place out of 24 schools at the recent UIL 5A Regionals. For our young team the defeat stung har, as the Generals fell short of making it to State. This meet (183 runners) was the largest meet they had competed in, with the most competition. But Coach Garza is positive that the program will bounce back next season, even though the disappointment of not advancing at the Regionals will haunt them for a while.

“I plan to grow our program next year to dominate past the district meet, and we’ve already made strides in addressing this issue this current season,” said Coach Garza. “We plan to run in the Houston Turkey Trout Half Marathon and numerous 5k’s around town. Exposure to all types of runners will cut down our fear of an opponent.”

Our team’s average time was – 19:12:22, with the following scores listed down below:

  • #50 – Seaare Gebrekidan (11th Grade) with the time of 17:53
  • #81 – Ismale Kalifa (11th Grade) with the time of 18:21
  • #86 – Awot Mehari (11th Grade) with the time of 18:25
  • #132 – Finan Teklemariam (10th Grade) with the time of 19:48
  • #175 – Duot Ajang (10th Grade) with the time of 21:32
  • #176 – Jeremy Aponte (10th Grade) with the time of 21:32
  • #179 – Nahom Girmai (9th Grade) with the time of 21:40
