Wisdom High School Head Volleyball Coach Jaqueta Dunn wrapped up her pre-season practice and scrimmages, and the Lady Generals (0-1) hit the court on Friday, August 18 to attack their 2017 regular season schedule, when they faced Northside at The Pavilion. Wisdom played a very close match, but lost the contest 3-0 (17-25, 25-27, 20-25).

The Lady Generals are still primed and ready to take on their opponents in District 24-5A, and Dunn believes her squad has a great chance to improve on the results of their 2016 campaign.

“I’m super excited about this season, as the majority of my team consists of returning players that have grown tremendously since last year,” said Dunn. “The girls are much more confident on the court and bursting with excitement. We have added additional players that have given our team that final boost that will hopefully put us on track to make the playoffs. I believe we have a strong chance of getting there.”

Dunn named the following players to her 2017 Varsity Volleyball roster: Awah Boudurin, Pascaline Chuma, Cindy Garcia, Jackeline Umanzor, Vanessa Villatoro, Ajen Mayan, Adrianna Sadler & Juani Perez.

“We feel ready for the season and we are going to give it everything we have,” said senior Vanessa Villatoro. “I am confident that we will be able to leave a great legacy for the younger players, and put Wisdom volleyball back on the map here in our district.”

The Lady Generals also have formed a junior varsity team that will be coached by Edward Garza, and that team opened their season with a two sets to zero victory over Northside.
