The Wisdom High School Boys Track & Field team captured the 2017 District 24-5A overall championship at the Houston ISD meet held at Barnett Stadium, April 10-13. In addition, they advanced nine athletes to the area meet that will be held at Hall Stadium in Fort Bend ISD on Thursday, April 20.
The Generals captured seven gold medals & district championships in individual events, while also earning four silver medals and six bronze medals.
The Wisdom boys compiled a total of 138 points to finish ahead of second place Waltrip which had 106, and third place Austin, which earned 98.5 points.
Madison won the overall Girls district Championship, while the Lady Generals finished in 5th place.
“This year has proven to be a huge success,” said Head Coach Edward Garza. “We have over 30 athletes competing and we are building a program. While Track and Field is its own sport, it has the ability to be the common ground between football, basketball, volleyball and cross country.”

“I encourage all students to consider running track next year, and I would like to thank Coach Murray and Coach Todd for working with both teams as Assistant Coaches,” said Garza. “We are all very lucky to be working with such dedicated athletes.”
